Waylon Hicks Music

The Waylon Hicks Quartet was assembled in 2011. The group usually performs as an instrumental Quartet using traditional jazz instrumentation (Sax, Keyboard or Guitar, Bass and Drums) but will often perform in a condensed trio setting and occasionally as a 5 piece, incorporating a vocalist .  Although the instrumentation is very traditional, the goal of this group is to not let "jazz" be a bad word for our listeners.  Band-leader and Saxophonist Waylon G. Hicks has made an impact and a name for himself in just a few short years within the Southern CA Music Scene.  His approach is to make jazz accessible and enjoyable for even those who believe they are not jazz fans.  Waylon Hicks Quartet's sound is a blend of jazz, funk, soul and hip hop, maintaining a high energy throughout their whole show and keeping audiences dazed in amazement and anxious to hear what comes next.  Be prepared for a group that will always bring something new and different each night with a fresh sound and groove that will make you a jazz fan all over again or one for the very first time!
